Just like human medical care, veterinary care costs money. Unfortunately, unlike humans, we don’t have the benefit of an NHS for our pets to help with the costs. Therefore in order to provide your pet with excellent veterinary care tailored to you and your pets needs, delivered by highly trained staff, our services come with a cost.
At Ampthill Veterinary Centre, we believe in fair and clear pricing. We may not always be the cheapest, but that’s because we believe in charging you for the care your pet receives:
- We don’t lure you in with low cost vaccines, and then charge heavily when things go wrong, for example your pet needs surgery unexpectedly.
- We won’t give you a hard sell on particular products and don’t believe using extreme mark-ups on prescription drugs to hide additional cost or heavily-subsidise other procedures.
- Where possible, we endeavour to use a time and skill based approach for procedures. We believe this is the fairest way to charge because every pet is different and you pay for the care your pet needs.
Payment is due at the time of your appointment or, if your pet is admitted, at the time of discharge. If a patient has to be hospitalised for overnight, we may ask you to pay sooner, but we will discuss this with you throughout your pets stay. If you have pet insurance, we are happy to guide you through the claims process.
If you have concerns about costs, please raise this with us at the earliest opportunity. We will always work with you to give your pet the best possible care.
